Work-Trade Program
at Easthampton Clay

The Work-Trade Program at Easthampton Clay is an exchange program affording members the opportunity to work a variety of shop jobs to help keep our studio safe, clean and fully operational in exchange for a discounted membership fee.

How does it work?

Work-Trade helps to keep our costs down by minimizing our staffing demands, assuring routine tasks and cleaning around our studio space are performed on a regular basis. It also provides affordable and accessible membership opportunities to our members, as well as an expansive network and community for those who participate.

In addition to a reduced membership fee, Work-Trade members have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of what it takes to keep a pottery studio safe and functional by participating in hands on studio tasks each week/month.

What’s the discount, what’s the commitment?

In exchange for a discounted one year Tier I membership (from $130/month to $105/month), work-trade members will participate in the program for a minimum of one year. At this rate, work-trade members are expected to complete 2 hours of EHC assigned studio work per month.

Additional discounts at increased commitment levels are available upon invitation depending on studio needs.

Work-Trade Mission Statement:

The mission of the work-trade program is to keep membership affordable and inclusive for all. The work-trade program gives members the opportunity to support the community in meaningful ways by helping to keep the studio safe and clean. If we didn't have this program, membership rates would be raised considerably and that impedes our mission of inclusivity.

What types of work-trade jobs are available?

Available work-trade jobs are detailed and assigned according to studio needs and best fit at the time of your incoming membership interview. At this time, we are only inviting members who are available to participate in the work-trade program. Examples of work-trade assignments include but are not limited to:

  • Shelf and surface cleaning

  • Mopping

  • Vacuuming

  • Processing studio clay reclaim

  • Studio laundry
