The Manny Rodriguez Scholarship

The Easthampton Clay Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee is currently accepting scholarship applications.

*Please note that our current waitlist for scholarship consideration is lengthy.
We still encourage you to apply and would love to offer available opportunities in the future.*

The scholarship program’s mission is to provide an opportunity for BIPOC, Queer identity, individuals impacted by disability, and low-income members of the Western Mass Community to join our ceramics family. Each scholarship recipient will be invited to take part in an 8-week class at the studio, which includes a weekly 2-hour class, tools, clay, glaze, and two hours of optional practice time per week.

Liz Rodriguez, owner and founder of Easthampton Clay, is offering this scholarship in honor of her father, Manny Rodriguez. Manny taught art in the South Bronx during the 70s and 80s, a time when the area was particularly hard hit by poverty and racial injustice. He was dedicated to creating a therapeutic art space where children could find sanctuary and thrive. Manny was a conduit of peace and a beacon of light in a dark time for kids in the Bronx. He was funny, loving, and treasured by all faculty and students. Manny’s career wasn’t about his paycheck, but rather his life’s work was dedicated to children who were struggling.

We want our studio to have a similar purpose; to provide solace for those who are struggling, be an accessible place for anyone interested, and create a sense of community and support.

  • Scholarship recipients will be notified by your choice of email or phone.

  • This scholarship is non-transferable and only valid for the current class session.
